The last days have been so long… No alarm set and wake up at 13.00…
It’s too late for the hotel breakfast so we go directly to the beach 3 minutes far from the hotel. It doesn’t take too long and we immediatly start feeling too hot. It’s full of people offering jet ski drives (1400 Baths per 30 minutes) or authentic Thai massages (200 Baths per 1 hour). We just arrived and Sina looks like a melt icecream, so what’s better then a bath in the Indian Ocean? The water is so warm and there are funny waves! We start swimming and… no way to get out of the water… except to put the solar cream that we have forgotten… and it’s the first day of sun…

The beach that is really nice but let me say that the italian and spanish beaches have nothing to envy to Patong Beach. While we were laying on the beach a lady comes close to us offering a particular kind of massage with some strange gel of a natural plant. We decide to try it and after 15 minutes (75 Bats) of massage it gave such a nice and fresh feeling!
Meanwhile all over the beach and all over the streets, people is celebrating the new year… watershooting. Everybody has water-weapons. Water-guns, Water-basket, Water-bomb, whatever has water is good to be used against anybody.
Back to the ocean for a while, then time for a soft drink (around 20 Baths).
Meanwhile on the street people goes on watershooting… It doesn’t matter how you are dressing… It seems the water-war is growing

Sina looks already exasausted. She says Thailand is hotter then finnish sauna… but i remember that here it’s only 35° comparing with the 90/100° of finnish sauna
But we have been already getting cooked by the sun for 2 hours and that’s the first day, so we have to say bye to the beach for today. Quick visit to the beach market. We end up in the middle of a water fight! People is shooting us from the street, from the cars, from everywhere… and this was not enough… a young kid more or less 8 years old throw a glass of frozen water on my shoulder… Welcome back to the beach life Danilo ![]()
Short rest at the hotel, then dinner at the hotel restaurant. Once again food is soo good. We ordered some sea rise, a big fish and a salad in enormeous portion plus a great coconut cocktail paying only 600 Baths (12 Euro)… and the dinner was great.

On the streets and at the hotel they are promoting excursions of any kind. We decide to book 2 places to visit the Phang Nga Bay for tomorrow. Still we have to deal a good price for it also if we decide to buy the trip from our hotel. Final price 1900 Baths (40 Euros) per person from 3800 Baths starting price.
It’s 19.00, the sun is going down. Time for shopping. We go visiting the markets in the center of the town where is possible to find more or less everything. We spend several hours buying more or less everything was nice and without caring of how we will carry all these stuff we bought… But that’s part of the fun! ![]()
At 23.00 we are still walking and few streets later we end up in the center of the water fight. Maybe thousands of people armed with water-weapons shooting water. It remembers me one famous italian celebration on August the 15th: Ferragosto! But here the dimensions of the party are impressive! It’s getting late, tomorrow we have to wake up early for the excursion so totally wet we go back to the hotel!

Meanwhile in Bangkok
It seems that in Bangkok the situation is not calm at all… it’s state of emergency and the army is on the streets with tanks. The plan was to spend there the night of April the 23rd and take our fly back to finland on April the 24th…
